RUKUNGIRI! Five family members held for killing their father


RUKUNGIRI-Police in Rukungiri is investigating circumstances that resulted into the death of  58yrs man.

According to  the Kigezi region Police spokesperson Elly Maate the deceased has been identified as Yonasani Turyamureeba a resident of Rubabo B Cell, Nyabushenyi Parish, Nyarushanje subcounty Rukungiri District.

Elly Maate the Kigezi region Police spokesperson says the deceased has been involved in a long standing domestic misunderstanding with his first wife Ntegyereize Sadress 54 years over land which she claimed was not evenly distributed amongst all the deceased’s four  wives.                                 

The Local Council settled the matter but Ntegyereize and her children remained un satisfied.     

Maate says  5 people have been arrested  to help police in carrying out investigations they are Denis Nuwamanya, Idan Ainebyona, Consolanta Tindikyeitire, Atananzio Muhwezi, and Sadress Ntegyereize 54 they are in police custody.                             

Its alleged that on 1 /1/2022 at around 7:00 PM, Nuwamanya Denis a male adult aged 25 years, Idan Ainebyoona 18 all biological children to Ntegyereize Sadress invited their father to Rwakaraba Trading Centre where they were seen drinking alcohol together.

However, Niwamanya Denis was seen armed with a sharp panga.   

Maate says, At around 10:00PM on saturday, the deceased and the two sons left the trading Center together but today 2/1/2022 at around 07:00AM the body of the deceased was found lying along the feeder road from Rubabo B Village at Rwakaraba Trading centre.                                       

Byamukama Wenceslas 35 the elder son to the deceased reported the incident at Rubabo Police Station and a case of Murder was recorded under  Reference 03/02/01/2022.    

Elly Maate says the scene of crime was visited by a team of detectives and other personnel.  The body was taken to Rwakabengo Health Center 111 for postmortem.                     

A Search was conducted and a sharp panga was recovered from the home of Denis Nuwamanya.                        

The body had a visible horizontal deep cut on the neck, right hand and near the left ear on the head all suspected to have been caused by a sharp object.There was a visible blood splash all over the scene.
