Indian business man shot by police officer in kisoro


KISORO-A police officer attached to FFU Nyakabande shot an indian business man in kisoro town at MTN center.

The suspect has been identified as Gumizamo elioda aged 21 years attached to nyakabande transit center.

Elly maate kigezi Region police spokesperson identifies the victim as kuntaj Patel an Indian dealing in hardware in the kisoro municipality

Maate adds that kuntaj Patel was shot in the chest then rushed at St Francis  mutolere hospital where he was pronounced dead hours later

Gilbert mwiseneza an eyewitness and  a casual worker at the Patels hardware says ‘they were talking to the customers and in the dew course the suspect entered and shot my boss and when he tried to run away nearby people chased him and caught himl’’.

The kisoro district police commander Musisi Robert said the suspect is under Police custody and will be charged of aggravated robbery and murder .

Musisi said the suspect used 2 shots and had been hired to kill the victim for 20m

Kisoro Rdc Hajji Shaffique Sekandi confirmed the incident saying the suspect is being detained at kisoro central police station and the gun has been recovered.

He condemned the act of such a trained security personnel who has been in service for four years.

Eyewitness still say  this becomes the second gun robbery that has happened at the same scene.
