Judges warned against mishandling land wrangles as Rukungiri high court officially launched


The principal Judge of Uganda Justice Doctor. Flavian Zeija on Monday 6 /2/2023 officially launched the Rukungiri High Court with a call on judicial officials to avoid unnecessary absenteeism from duty at Magistrates Court premises in Rukungiri municipality Rukungiri district .

 Justice Flavian who was the chief guest urged judicial officers to always select few cases per court siting which can easily be listened too during court session  for better service delivery to the community.

Justice Flavian also asked the members of the public to always report any court staff asking money from them to access justice ,he therefore asked the public especially those with cases at high court Kabale to check with Rukungiri high court.

The Rukungiri Chief Magistrate Her Worship Edith Mary Mbabazi who is also the acting assistant registrar Rukungiri high court thanked the principal judge for honoring their invitation and said that this mile stone will help the people of Rukungiri and Kanungu Districts to save on the costs they have been facing to access high court in kabale.

Mbabazi also told people of Rukungiri and Kanungu that the construction of the high court building is also nearing its completion which is going to be hosting Rukungiri High Court.

On the Same function Geofrey Kyomukama Rukungiri District LC5 warned Judges to always handle land wrangles carefully and also tasked the Principle judge to consider the construction of remand home in Rukungiri for juveniles saying that it is costly for the affected families going to Kabale.

Kyomukama also asked the chief guest to consider the construction of Grade One Magistrate court in Bugangari the case the principal judge said they are handling.

Rukungiri high court is the 19th newly opened and functional high court circuit in Uganda and will serve the people of Rukungiri and Kanungu districts.
