The territorial police of Kabale are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of NO:69786 PC Komuhangi Caroline 23 yrs, a police officer.
According to ASP Elly Maate Kigezi Region police spokesperson ,PC Komuhangi was attached to Kabale police station, FFU department she was resident of the barracks behind Kabale old police station, she was allegedly shot by her man friend.
The suspect has been identified as Denis Arinaitwe a tailor at Richo senior expert tailors opposite kabale CPS ,he is a resident of Nyakahanga cell kazindiro parish Bugangari subcounty in Rukungiri district.
Police statement says that on 18/03/2023 at around 06;00pm, the deceased signed for the Gun and went for night duty.Sunday morning on the 19/03/2023 at around 06:30am, she reported back from duty and while she was resting, the said Arinaitwe Denis came.
It’s further alleges that, the two picked a quarrel, and as she tried to escape outside running, the said Denis picked a gun, thereby shooting her from the back one bullet and other two on the shoulder, killing her instantly.
Police restrained him, was arrested and was taken to Kabale hospital for treatment under guard, because was also injured which injury either was through scuffle or wanted to commit suicide by shooting himself through the nose.
Scene was visited and processed by Kabale homicide team led by Kigezi regional SOCO D/AIP Mugabe Derrick.Exhibit of catradges and rifle no. UGPOL. UF 20291999 -14771 with suspected blood stains were recovered.
Maate adds that Komuhangi’s was Body retrieved from the scene and conveyed to Kabale regional referral hospital mortuary for postmortem.Inquiries are at hand.
